In the Beginning:


Historically, the first meeting was held on May 18, 1965. The first directors were Louis Roy, Ralph Willis, Horace Lormand, Lytle Turnley, Wilfred Bernard, Margaret David, Lyman Vincent, Dr. George Fletcher, Dr. F.J. Falgout, Roy Hebert, L.J. Hebert, Tom Baudoin, Charles Broussard and J.D. Hanks, Jr. The Chamber was reorganized in 1983 with the Officers of the Board consisting of Gerald Broussard, President, David Granberry, DDS, 1st Vice President. Ernie Alexander, 2nd Vice President, Conrad Kaplan, 3rd Vice President, Lynn Simon Toups, Secretary, and Floyd Weber, Treasurer. The Board of Directors consisted of Ray Aucoin, Gordon Herpin, Shelly Deshotels, Mike Herpin, Ray Morvant, Dane Guidry, Milton Toups, Jr., Ken Broussard and Stacey Adams.


Our Organization:


The Board of Directors meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at the Kaplan City Hall. All members are invited to attend the meetings. The continued community support in the chamber gives our members the benefit of being united in unilateral goals. The chamber strives to continue to give our community the tools to grow and prosper. Continued growth is experienced in the several annual events as well as the many membership promotional opportunities that the chamber sponsors during the year.

With the coming of each new year, opportunities arise where the members can participate in promoting their businesses in various ways. Joining the Kaplan Area Chamber of Commerce is a must for any new business coming into the area. Join us to today to continue to see growth in our area.
Membership in the chamber is by application. Dues are paid annually in January on a per employee or on an individual basis. The application can be downloaded from this site and mailed with payment to the chamber office located at 701 N. Cushing Avenue, Kaplan, LA 70548, or email us at chamberkaplan@yahoo.com

 

 

Party in the Park Results:

Party in the Park, the kick off party for the Louisiana Cajun Food Fest, held on Friday, August 20 in the Kaplan Community Park was a great success. Many thanks to chamber board member Dwain Broussard, chamber member Chris Abshire, Sara Abshire, Jerry Miller and Marian Landry for the GREAT BURGERS. Thanks to La Cajun Food Fest Vendor Bart Turnley and Ryan Primeaux for the TWISTED POTATOES. They were a site to see and a delight to taste. The potatoes will be available at the La Cajun Food Fest in October.

The Auction Items went to Brenda Clark for the autographed guitar with the Kershaw gift baskets going to Nancy Simon, Tommy Clark and Wayne Vincent.

The NIKL BEER BAND was great, the food was hot and the drinks were cold. We hope everyone had a great time.
